Sample Ports of Call/Shore Excursions
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Every visitor to Rome knows there is no shortage of amazing sights to see. The Vatican's Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum with its lurid history and, of course, the Trevi Fountain where a tossed coin promises your return to the Eternal City. Take a walking tour of its many historical landmarks and enjoy the convivial sidewalk cafes. There is no doubt you'll learn the meaning of la dolce vita (the sweet life) when you visit Rome.
    Sample Shore Excursions:
  • Holy Rome Tour: Explore St. Peter's Basilica and Square and the Vatican Museums. Drive to Rome and enter the vast expanse of St. Peter's Square, which can hold over 300,000 people, and pass through the embracing arms of Bernini's colonnades where you will arrive at St. Peter's Basilica. Learn the enormity of Christendom's largest church and see where the Pope celebrates mass, the gilded papal canopy created by Bernini in the 17th century.
  • Italian Countryside Tour: Enjoy the wealth of Italian countryside and a typical local farmhouse brunch as you leave the city behind in search of tranquility and beauty. Drive along the new Appian Way, which now runs adjacent to the old one which was one of the first ancient Roman military roads, and experience the enchanting Campagna with its rolling hills and lush farmlands dotted with farmhouses, villas and palaces.
  • Angels and Demons Tour: Experience the thrills of Dan Brown's novel come to life as you follow in its footsteps. Meet your guide and reach Santa Maria del Popolo Church. Inside you can visit the Chigi’s Chapel where the first Cardinal, Ebnes can be found, who had been murdered and Earth used to fill his body. Drive on to Santa Maria della Vittoria Church. Here the third Cardinal, Guidera, was burnt alive and the masterpiece is the symbol of the Fire element. Admire the Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, by Bernini, which will give you the direction to reach the fourth altar of the Science in Piazza Navona.

Naples, Italy

Naples, located in beautiful southern Italy, is the country's third most populated city. You'll immediately feel the friendly spirit of this sunny metropolis as you sample its historic sights, fabulous shopping galleria and irresistible cuisine situated on the Bay of Naples. Mount Vesuvius, the Amalfi Coast and the romantic isle of Capri's famous Blue Grotto are just a short drive from the city.
    Sample Shore Excursions:
  • Amalfi Coast by Boat & Pompeii Tour: Take a relaxing motorboat ride along the Amalfi Coast, the most famous coast in all of Italy, followed by a visit to one of the most famous ruins of all time, Pompeii. Ride for approximately one hour by motor coach and arrive in Salerno, located at the very end of the outstanding Amalfi Coast. Here is where you will board your private boat and enjoy a 45 minute cruise, viewing the unforgettable Dolomitic cliffs that tower perpendicularly out of the sea and look to be sculpted by nature into their fantastic shapes.
  • Ancient Herculaneum Tour: Pompeii was destroyed by volcanic ash but Herculaneum was covered in a flood of hot mud that actually sealed and protected this ancient Roman aristocracy. Discover there is undeniably a "feeling" about Herculaneum, which is quite different from what one feels in other ancient world centers, including Pompeii. To a large extent, this is due to the special circumstances of its interment by Vesuvius during the eruption of A.D. 79; the city was not struck by ashes and lapilli, but by a torrent of mud flowing down from the slopes of the volcano.
  • The Island of Capri Tour: Board a hydrofoil and be magically transported to a rugged coastline framed by cliffs that rise from the sea with vineyards and gardens, the island of Capri. Visit Villa San Michele, once home to the famous Swedish writer and physician Axel Munthe, and enjoy a few photo opportunities before going back down to Capri where lunch with wine will be served in a local restaurant.
