A fascinating blend of scenery, history and geology, this tour is essential to gaining a true appreciation of all that Mallorca has to offer.
Depart the port bound for the eastern coast town of Sant Joan to visit the historical manor of Mallorcas flat land known as "Els Calderers de Sant Joan" where you will be transported to the Mallorca of two centuries ago. You will tour the facilities with its outbuildings for cattle-breeding and farming activities and observe the locals that maintain the manor and its indigenous animals that call "Els Calderers" home.
Reboarding the coach, your next stop will be at a pearl factory known for its long pearl manufacturing tradition in the Balearic Islands. You will observe the successful process that has been kept secret through the ages. This artisan process, using marine raw materials, is continuously improved under strict scientific control. You will observe why the attempts to achieve quality imitation pearls have all been unsuccessful. Time permitting; you can browse and shop in the pearl gift shop.
Travel to the town of Porto Cristo, one of the oldest anchorages of the island. This fishing village is located at the end of a sheltered bay, which developed in the Middle Ages to cater to the needs of Manacor and has become popular with visiting yachters because of its deep harbor. Lunch with wine will be served in a local restaurant before continuing onto the Caves del Drach.
On the outskirts of Porto Cristo is where you will find the famous Caves del Drach located. This series of mysterious caverns is a natural phenomenon that provides a play of shadow and light, thus creating abstract images whose interpretation is limited only by the observer's imagination. The beauty of the Caves can be appreciated thanks to its exceptional lighting. You will also admire the largest underground lake in the world, known as Lake Martel.
Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 1 - 1.5 miles over uneven, gravel, and cobblestone surfaces with more than 150 steps in the caves. Due to the slippery and wet conditions in the Drach Caves, sturdy, non-slip walking shoes are recommended. Actual viewing time in Drach Caves is approximately 1 hour. The caves are not wheelchair accessible.

You will discover Mallorca's North Coast, a vast mass of lime rock that has acted as a protecting wall against coastal winds and opportunistic invaders for centuries. It has attracted a range of artists, including Chopin, Georges Sand, Gertrude Stein, and Robert Graves.
Once in Valldemossa, you will visit the Costa Nord Foundation. You will be introduced (via video presentation) to the legacy of the men and women who were enchanted by the North Coast. This documentary film is narrated by actor/producer, Michael Douglas, who has made this area his home for twenty years. Proceed next through the scenic areas of Banyalbufar and Estellencs on your way to Puerto de Andratx, where you will visit one of the best and authentic wine cellars on the islands. You will have the opportunity to sample different wines along with local cheese.
Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 2 miles over both flat and cobblestone surfaces with a few steps. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Visit Valldemossa - one of the most beautiful and typical villages on the island, which is nestled in a valley within the northern mountain range, a short distance from Palma.
From the port, the coach will head towards La Cartuja, an ancient Monastery that was originally built as a royal hunting lodge and was later inhabited by Carthusian monks. The monks were expelled in 1835, the venue was privatized, and the cells became lodging for travelers. During the winter of 1838, the famous Polish composer Frederick Chopin and the French writer Georges Sand lived in this monastery. There is a collection of furniture, including a piano where Chopin composed some of his masterpieces. George Sand later wrote a book "A Winter in Majorca," which tells of time spent on the island. Other interesting sites are a small chapel, a Middle Age pharmacy, and the monk's library. The King Sancho's Palace will also be visited. You will enjoy a 10-minute piano concert before free time for shopping and exploration in Valldemossa on your own.
Lunch will be served in a restaurant before continuing on to Soller. One of the main attractions in Soller is the Church, which was built in 1912 by architect Juan Rubio i Bellver, a pupil of Gaud. Your trip will be highlighted by a return journey to Palma in the electric Soller Train. This is a very scenic, one-hour ride on an old fashioned electric train, which still uses wooden cars. The ride will take you through 13 tunnels over a distance of approximately 17 miles, traveling amidst some breath taking landscapes. Back in Palma, the coach will take you back to your vessel.
Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 2 miles over uneven and cobblestones surfaces with slight inclines and 10 - 20 steps. Tour itinerary may be altered in order to avoid congestion at the venues or depending upon the availability of the train.
