The Kohunlich Mayan Ruins are situated in a secluded jungle setting near the border of Belize. Spread over a wide area, the ruins encompass a broad scope of architectural styles, from the wide lawns of the public centers and ball courts, to high temples with great-sculpted masks of the city's rulers running up each side of the front stairway. At the city's highest elevations are the residential dwellings of the social elite, quiet spaces perched above it all, overlooking miles of tropical jungle and lush hillsides. The tour begins as you board an air- conditioned bus for a scenic drive to Kohunlich ruins, during which time your bilingual guide will give you an overview of the region and what you can expect to see at the ruins. On arrival, your guide will escort you through this breathtaking site complete with detailed Mayan temples and lush green manicured gardens. You will have a chance to see the Temple of the Large Masks, the Plaza of the Acropolis, the Plaza of the Estelas, Plaza Hundida, and Plaza Merwin, to name a few. Complimentary beverages and a light snack will be provided.

Your adventure begins as you board a Dune Buggy off-road vehicle and set out on a caravan style journey towards a simpler life that has long been forgotten. You may either drive or ride, but do come prepared to sightsee the isolated and quaint fishing village of Majahaul. As your tour continues, you will notice that your excursion is heading away from the likes of electricity and civilization as you venture onto unpaved roads and picture perfect Caribbean scenery. Encounter an endless variety of lush green vegetation and tropical birds from the region. A brief stop will be made where you can shop for local crafts. In the last frontier of the Mayan civilization lies a world of enchantment that only you could be so fortunate to discover. As far away from modern civilization and the hustle and bustle of everyday life lies a stretch of beach that awaits your bare footsteps. Just 18 kilometers south of the small fishing village of Mahaual you will find an even more virgin place on earth. However, before reaching paradise you must wrestle with the untamed tropical jungle of the Yucatan. The tour begins as you get into your World War II class S Mercedes Benz Unimog. This 4x4 powerhouse has been conditioned so you and your companions (up to ten passengers per vehicle) can ride comfortably in the back. Your bilingual guide will drive you to paradise first through an abandoned highway and then on a short leg of off-road. Now you are in the middle of nowhere, so take a step back and admire the endless stretch of virgin beach and the beautiful unspoiled views of the Caribbean Sea. You will have an hour and a half of fun in the sun at La Palapa beach. Have a volleyball game or if you choose drift further from reality in one of our complimentary ocean kayaks. But don't be too long because there are more adventures ahead. Hop back into your ride and start your way home on an off-road jungle coastal trail. During your return keep your eyes open for tropical birds, resident iguanas and notice how local fisherman live their everyday life. You will experience the real Mexican-Caribbean as you encounter the fisherman's huts. Slowly you will begin your way back to civilization by gradually reaching Mahaual town. As you drive through this rudimentary village rest assured that the comfort of your ship is waiting for you.
