Before setting out from the waterfront in the French Capital of Marigot, you will be outfitted with bikes and safety gear and given a safety orientation. Departing the waterfront, you will pass a planned marina before reaching the off- road portion of your tour. Head out along the stunning coastline towards the only steep hill on your adventure. Once at the top, experience breathtaking views of the city of Marigot and the island of Anguilla. Still hugging the coastline, the trail turns into an exhilarating downhill ride. Ride through the rural village Colombier, set deep in a valley where a rest stop will be made. Once back on the trail, you glide down and out of the valley and through Friars Bay Village where you will view an old plantation house in route to Friars Bay Beach. Here you will served a complimentary beverage and have an opportunity to take a refreshing swim before boarding the buses for the return trip to the ship.
Experience two highlights of St. Maarten on one tour. Leaving Philipsburg by bus, youll pass through the Dutch and French sides of the island before arriving at the Butterfly Farm. Knowledge-able guides will escort you through the Butterfly Sphere, which is a magnificently landscaped garden where the butterflies live. Youll also see a waterfall, ponds and Japanese fish. As you are guided through this tranquil environment, some of the most colorful butterflies from all over the world will be flying around. A beverage will be served during your visit. A stop will also be made in the French capital city of Marigot for you to enjoy shopping and walking among the sidewalk cafs and open-air market. En route back to the ship, view the eastern coastline of St. Maarten and St. Barts at Orient Bay Lookout. Note: The order of the tour may change.
Board the spacious motorized catamaran for a snorkel adventure at Shipwreck Cove. Amongst the sunken ships and coral reefs are myriad species of fish and coral. Mask, fins, snorkel and floatation devices are provided. Professionally guided with full instruction, if required. This is a great snorkeling experience. The double decker boat has a sun deck as well as a shaded area, a bar and boutique. Unlimited rum punch and fruit punch is available after snorkeling. An adult must accompany children under 12 years. This vessel is wheelchair accessible.
Tour one of the largest salt-water lagoons in the Caribbean by kayak. The guide will take you to quiet spots and mangroves where many marine species start life. The shoreline shelters a variety of wildlife including Egrets, Plovers, Crab Herons, and Pelicans. The latter half of the tour takes you to Explorer Island for a brief stop, before crossing some open sea to a white sand beach. Relax, enjoy a complimentary drink before being transferred back to the pier.
Step aboard the first class catamaran Golden Eagle I or Golden Eagle II and the modern, state of the art vessel, will whisk you across the water to a secluded beach. As you enjoy a continental breakfast of croissants, hot danish pastries and even champagne, enjoy the thrill of sailing in the offshore waters. Look out for flying fish, or if you are lucky, perhaps even a dolphin. The Golden Eagles destination is a tropical beach, where the anchor is dropped, giving you a chance to snorkel or swim at leisure. Snorkeling equipment is available for those that wish, as are beach floats. Homeward bound, the yellow spinnaker is hoisted and utilizing the highly advanced pivoting wingmast, more power is transferred to the sails. While you enjoy cocktails and snacks, the Golden Eagle will skim across the water, returning you back to your vessel.
Depart the pier in Dutch St. Maarten for a scenic bus ride to the northeast French coast. Here you embark on a water taxi for a short transfer to beautiful Pinel Island. Wade off the beach with a professional instructor to guide you through a world of coral reefs inhabited by tropical fish. Snorkeling instruction is provided, along with mask, snorkel, fins and floatation vest. You may also explore this tiny uninhabited island, swim, sunbathe, visit the boutiques or purchase cool drinks from local vendors. Restrooms and safe storage are provided. Please bring a towel and sunscreen. An adult must accompany children under 12 years.
