Past and present exist side-by-side in Seattle and on this excursion you will see modern Fifth Avenue to Pioneer Square. Begin with Seattle's birthplace, historic Pioneer Square that was settled in 1852, continuing on to the International District. Your first stop will be Pike Place Market, the oldest open-air farmers market on the West Coast. There will be time to independently explore the multitude of culinary offerings and the wide variety of arts and crafts. Reboarding the bus your tour winds through a tree-lined drive on your way to see the gothic-style buildings on the University of Washington campus. Explore the Hiram Chittenden Locks, the passageway between saltwater and freshwater for 78,000 vessels a year. View the fish ladders where thousands of salmon travel upstream to spawn. A photo stop will be made north of the city at the Magnolia Bluff neighborhood for views of Elliott Bay and the city skyline. Finally, take a ride to the top of the Space Needle for an unparalleled view of the Emerald City and its surrounding mountains and bodies of water.
Visit the birthplace of some of the greatest aircraft aloft. Touring the Boeing Plant in Everett reveals the inner workings of the manufacturing of some of the world's largest planes. The plant, located nearly 30 miles north of Seattle, has the largest cubic capacity of any building in the world; it is so lofty and long that even a 747 looks dwarfed. See the assembly steps of the 747's, 767's or 777's within the factory and the planes lined up next to the 9,500-foot runway at Paine Field. View a video presentation and join in a guided tour led by a Boeing representative.
Seattle boasts "the most livable city" on many counts. It has some of the best shopping, coffee, views and theater. Drive through Seattle's birthplace, historic Pioneer Square settled in 1852, to the International District. Wind through a tree- lined drive on your way to see the gothic-style buildings on the 680-acre University of Washington campus. Explore the Hiram Chittenden Locks, the passageway between saltwater and freshwater for 78,000 vessels a year. View the fish ladders where thousands of salmon travel upstream to spawn. Before returning to the pier, a stop will be made north of the city at the Magnolia Bluff neighborhood for views of Elliott Bay and the city skyline.
