The Alaska Sealife Center is a $56-million-dollar facility funded in part by the Exxon Valdez settlement, dedicated to understanding and maintaining the integrity of Alaska's marine ecosystem through research and rehabilitation. Experience a world of wonder where sandfish flutter across the ocean floor and jellyfish drift with the changing current. Interactive exhibits and displays allow you to come face to face with Steller sea lions, a chorus of seabirds, and to hold a living starfish. Artistically designed habitats mirror the natural surroundings of Resurrection Bay, which is located just outside the center.

Experience one of Alaska's few walk-in glaciers-Exit Glacier. On this two-hour tour a naturalist will talk about the effects the glaciers have had on the area. At the end of the road follow the flat, easy half-mile walk, on a path through alder forest, to the glacier's terminus. The first half of the path is paved. Exit Glacier is three miles long and descends some 2,500 feet from the Harding Ice field. You can experience the end or terminus of the glacier first-hand on this tour.

Upgrade your trip between Seward and Anchorage by adding on a visit to Portage Lake for a spectacular one-hour cruise to Portage Glacier aboard the mv Ptarmigan. On board the mv Ptarmigan, with its enclosed, heated cabin and topside open viewing deck, cruise to within 300 yards of Portage Glacier for fantastic views of the blue-white icebergs that decorate Portage Lake. You may even witness the "calving" of an iceberg from the glacier. An onboard U.S. Forest Service ranger will offer insights into how the area has been shaped by glaciers. After your cruise continue along Turnagain Arm to Anchorage.

Visit the Seavey Homestead in Seward, home of the 2004 Iditarod champion Mitch Seavey. Tour the racing kennel, experience a two-mile summer dog sled ride, cuddle the adorable puppies and learn about the Iditarod and laugh at tales from the trail.
