Admire the scenic beauty of Kodiak Island as you embark on an in-depth tour of the many points of interest in and around the city of Kodiak, the first Russian settlement in Alaska.
View cannery row and the boat harbor on your drive into the city. Photo opportunities abound as you explore the area, influenced by Native American and Russian ancestry. Stop at the Baranov Museum, offering a mixture of Native, Russian and American history. Then visit the Alutiiq Museum to gain a more in-depth look at Alaska Native culture.

Your journey begins with a tour down cannery row to learn about the importance of the fishing industry to Kodiak's economy. Stop at the Northern Exposure Art Gallery to view local art. Continue on to the Russian Orthodox Seminary, one of only three in the United States, where a priest guides you on a tour of the "Log Chapel," a replica of the first church built in Kodiak. Learn some of the connections between the Alaska Natives and the Russian Orthodox Church.

Combine Kodiak's amazing beauty and wartime history on this walk through a portion of Ft. Abercrombie State Park.
Travel to park headquarters, and join a guide along well-maintained trails that provide views of wildflowers and songbirds. Eagles, puffins, guillemots, eiders and gulls are frequent visitors to the coastline. Ocean views are breathtaking and whale sightings are reported often from this area throughout the season.
Numerous World War II bunkers are resilient reminders of Kodiak's part in the war. At the midpoint of the hike, there is a 30-minute stop at the Military History Museum located in one of the largest bunkers in the park. The walk ends back at park headquarters, where you board the bus and return to your ship with a camera full of memories.

Savor beer samples at the Kodiak Brewery and enjoy panoramic views of Kodiak Island.
A short drive takes you along cannery row to the Kodiak Brewery for a tour and tasting of Ben's local creations. Travel past the small boat harbor and through the heart of old downtown en route to the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. Learn about Kodiak's flora and fauna before embarking on a scenic drive past the largest Coast Guard base in the United States, originally built as a naval station during World War II.
At a scenic overlook the panoramic view of Chiniak Bay spans from the airport across open ocean to nearby Long Island, Woody Island and Near Island. Also enjoy a view of your cruise ship, downtown Kodiak and a WWII pillbox bunker. A variety of wildflowers and birds are in the area as well.
