The museum is an exact replica of his house and stands a few yards from the sea overlooking Matavai Bay. Inside is the library with the original wooden desk and typewriter. Over 3,000 books containing seven generations of American literature, antique furniture, nostalgic family photos and favorite paintings can be found.

Wearing a simple bathing suit and equipped with a funny yellow helmet, you will walk along the sea bottom in the shallow warm lagoon surrounding the island. A short boat transfer brings you to the reef site. Accompanied by a certified instructor, you will see fantastic coral formations and colorful tropical fish in the shallow water. Surrounded by the many inhabitants of the reef, your head will remain completely dry during your 30 minutes underwater.
  • Highlights Of Bora Bora Tour: Starting in the village of Vaitape, circle this island paradise in one of the local Le Trucks.
  • Tupuna Mountain Safari & Island Tour: Get off the beaten track on an adventurous, guided 4WD tour of Bora Bora that includes a mountain plantation with stunning views of Faanui Bay. Tiki Theater Village - Nestled under the palm fronds of a coconut plantation on the shores of Haapiti lagoon, the village recreates old island life with its thatched-roof pandanus houses. Stroll the village and meet the people; see demonstrations of tiki carving and mat weaving followed by a dance by villagers in traditional costume.
  • Circle Island & Belvedere Tour: Travel around Moorea for a glimpse of the Polynesia of legend and take in the island’s two best vantage points - the lookouts at Kia Ora and Le Belvedere. Protestant Church, Papetoai - Constructed in 1822, the octagonal church is built from the stones of Tahitian maraes, or open-air temples, that originally occupied the site. This is the oldest European structure still in use in the South Pacific.
  • Moorea 4wd Safarii Tour: For dramatic island views, fruit plantations, and ancient stone temples, explore Moorea by 4WD. Board your 4WD vehicle and drive through the Paopao Valley, passing pineapple plantations. Next cross the Paopao Opunohu trail to Le Belvedere Lookout for views of Cook’s and Opunohu Bays. Return to the interior trails of the Rural College of Opunohu, passing though bamboo groves and grapefruit, papaya and vanilla plantations.
  • Moorea Snorkeling Safari Tour: Get a different perspective of Moorea - the lagoon’s temperate waters make for a snorkeling paradise. You cross the lagoon to a nearby motu and anchor near one of the island’s best spots for a full hour of snorkeling. View the reef’s great variety of coral and look for angel, parrot and butterfly fish. A stop is also made at a special site to encounter schools of stingrays.

Raiatea, Polynesia

    Sample Shore Excursions:
  • Raiatea Insight Tour: An American guide relates the history of this fascinating island and its unique role in Polynesia, as well as some very colorful history of his own. Taputapuatea Marae - Maraes are open-air traditional stone temples, and are the religious centers of old Polynesian culture. Taputapuatea Marae is the most sacred marae in all of Polynesia, dedicated to five gods including Oro, the bloodthirsty god of war who demanded human sacrifices.
  • Raiatea Horseback Riding Tour: Explore Raiatea’s lush scenery on a ride that travels through tropical vegetation and past forest streams. Transfer to Kaoha Nui Ranch where you meet your English-speaking guide. After a brief orientation to your Marquesan horse and equipment - English saddle and hackamore - set off on a ride that climbs past lush tropical vegetation, including wild orchids and rare trees. Along the way, enjoy views of the island, lagoon and neighboring islands of Tahaa and Huahine.
  • Tahaa Coral Gardens Drift Snorkel Tour: Drift snorkeling is an exciting experience for the more advanced snorkeler. A 30-minute trip by covered motorized boat takes you to an uninhabited motu off the coast of Raiatea’s sister island, Tahaa. Your snorkeling guide leads you across the motu to an area just inside the barrier reef. After you enter the water, the current carries you through the shallow pass on a return route to the waiting boat. The area abounds with tropical fish and amazing corals.
