Sample Ports of Call/Shore Excursions
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. St. Thomas is known as a vacation idyll today, but its history is not so peaceful. In the 18th century, the island was at the center of a bustling pirate culture, as swashbuckling pirates such as Blackbeard and Drake traded stolen wares in the port of Charlotte Amalie.
    Sample Shore Excursions:
  • Legends & Lore of St. Thomas - Enjoy a walking tour that includes a solid summary of local history in the most profound and colorful way possible. Topics include Columbus' discovery and naming of the Virgins in 1493, the near-extermination of native Indians by the Spanish, the development of African-sourced slavery, the brutal use of slave labor in sugar production, the heyday of piracy and much more. The route is only moderately hilly, and ends just where the shops begin.
  • Magen's Bay & Coral World - Enjoy spectacular underwater views during the trip to Coral World Marine Park and Underwater Observatory. You will also visit Magen's Bay Beach where you can swim or relax.
  • Coral Land & Coral Sea - The sci-tech semi-submarine, Nautilus, will take you on an undersea adventure. Then debark to continue the adventure inside Coral World with its Caribbean Reef Encounter, filled with an amazing array of sea creatures beyond even what you were able to see on Nautilus.
  • Accessible Scenic Island Drive to Mountain Top - Skyline Drive is where you will begin your adventure. The first stop is the Valdemir Hill Overlook that includes views of the Caribbean, your ship in the harbor, downtown and surrounding islands. Drake's Seat is next on the tour with a view of the islands on the north side. On to Mountain Top, one of the highest peaks on St. Thomas. Shop, have a snack and try a world famous Mountain Top banana daiquiri. During your drive back you will travel through the waterfront back to the pier.
  • The Best of St. Thomas - Magnificent views await you on the scenic drive to and at St. Peter Greathouse, formerly a private hideaway for the rich and famous, and at Mountain Top, home of the famous Banana Daiquiri located 1400 feet above sea level and the highest point on St. Thomas. At the end of the tour, you can shop for duty free bargains in picturesque Charlotte Amalie or return to your ship.
  • Tortola Dolphin Swim & Island - The Experience of a Lifetime! The Dolphin Discovery Swim in Tortola, Make a Friend for a Lifetime! Kiss, pet and play with the dolphin and enjoy our beautiful Island tour with the greatest Vista in the Caribbean. Caribbean style buffet lunch and with visit to Sky World included! This tour is not available on all ships. Guests are required to pass through Immigration and must have and present a valid passport.
  • St. John Eco Hike - After a brief boat ride, disembark in the charming town of Cruz Bay in St. John and proceed to the Lind Point Trail, which takes you 250 feet up to the Lind Point Overlook with astounding views of surrounding islands. Continue to magnificent Honeymoon Beach for swimming, sunbathing or relaxing before touring the grounds of the world famous Caneel Bay Resort.
  • Kayak, Hike and Snorkel of Cas Cay - Gather the family for a truly unique kayak, hike and snorkel experience at the St. Thomas Mangrove Wildlife Refuge and Marine Sanctuary. After a short transfer by van, you'll be given brief instructions and fitted with a life jacket, before boarding your two-person kayak for kayak, hiking and snorkeling. Three tours in one!
  • Atlantis Submarine - Explore the tropical underwater world from the Atlantis XV. After a 20-minute ferry ride to the dive site at Turtle Cove, you board the real submarine where your pilot and co-pilot point out colorful sponges, corals and whimsical tropical fish as the sub descends to a depth of 80 feet. Marvel at the abundant varieties of sea life and perhaps encounter a shark or two! Don't be surprised if you see stingrays, moray eels and turtles.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Philipsburg, St. Maarten. As the Spanish closed their colonial fort on St. Maarten in 1648, a few Dutch and French sailors hid on the island and decided to share it. Soon thereafter, the Netherlands and France signed a formal agreement to split St. Maarten in half, as it is today. Philipsburg displays its Dutch heritage in its architecture and landscaping. The island offers endless stretches of beach and great shopping.
    Sample Shore Excursions:
  • 4 x 4 St. Maarten Safari Tour - Get away from the crowds and share a 4x4 experience on trails and island roads. A stop off at Mullet Bay Beach will allow you to enjoy a swim. You will have one hour to explore the shops, markets and restaurants in Marigot before proceeding to Orient Beach.

At the border between the Dutch and French sides of the island, you'll stop and see the monument signifying different countries. Additional activities are available at an extra cost and are not part of the tour package. New location - April 1st.

The guide will identify different species, point out courtship and mating displays and tell butterfly facts and stories. Then continue your tour to Boo-Boo-Jam on Orient Beach, a 5 to 10 minute drive away. The beach is reputed as much for its beauty and setting as it is for being the island's foremost nude beach.
