Mazatlan City Tour & Folkloric Show

    Mazatlan City Tour & Folkloric Show: This excursion will take you to see Mazatlan's most historic sights. Leaving the port your tour begins with a visit to the 19th century Inmaculada Concepcion Cathedral with its graceful facade of intricately carved volcanic rock. From a distance view the second-highest natural lighthouse in the world, El Faro, surrounded by scenic offshore islands and a spectacular oceanfront.
    Continuing along the coast, there will be a brief stop at a rocky promontory to view the local cliff divers. Your drive continues past one of Mexico's grandest resorts, El Cid, before making your way to Mazatlan's “Golden Zone” and the opportunity to shop for Mexican and Indian handicrafts.
    The highlight of your tour will be a special 30-minute folkloric show. As you enjoy a complimentary beverage, a local troupe dressed in colorful costumes will introduce you to songs and dances of ancient and colonial Mexico. View the Papantla Flyers display an aerial act, which has been passed down through generations and is truly a sight that is not to be missed.
    At the conclusion of your tour you may stay in the Golden Zone and return to the ship independently, or return directly to the ship.

Mazatlan City & Mexican Fiesta Tour

    Your tour begins with a narrated drive through Mazatlan, passing the monuments of the old city. Travel through residential areas and pass the University of Baja California, the Research Center and Plaza Civica, home to the largest Mexican flag in the country.
    Arriving at the center of town, stop at the Riviera Pacifica, once a hotel and casino, now used for cultural events. A Mariachi Band will serenade you on the patio as you sip a complimentary beverage and wander through craft displays by local artisans. Enter into the Grand Ballroom for a Mexican Folkloric show featuring singers, dancers and, of course, the Mariachis! The costumed cast will introduce you to several Mexican regions through song and dance. As the Mariachis bid you farewell, you'll have a few more minutes to browse amongst the artisans. Leaving Riviera Pacifica, you'll have an opportunity to shop downtown before returning to the ship, or you may stay downtown and provide your own transportation to the ship.

Colonial Villages & Papantla Flyers Tour

    This tour offers you the unique opportunity to experience firsthand the life of the people in Mexico's villages, including a show performed by the daring Papantla Flyers.
    Departing the pier, your professional guide will provide historic information about Mazatlan before arriving at your first stop, an adobe brickyard. Watch as a worker creates bricks from mud for firing in a nearby kiln. Your guide will explain the simple process, which has been used for hundreds of years.
    Your next stop will be in the small village of Malpica where you'll see how concrete tiles are made by hand. A short walk will then take you to the village baker's home, where you'll have the opportunity to peek into the interior of a local household and see the brick oven where the baked goods for the village come from. Before leaving, you'll be offered a sample of the baker's work.
    In the city of Concordia stop in what was once a thriving county seat for the region. Founded by Captain Francisco de Ibarra in 1550, the city is home to a hand-hewn stone church as well as a clay pottery factory and a colonial furniture factory.
    Returning to Mazatlan stop to view the famous Papantla Flyers. As you sip a complimentary beer or soft drink, watch the Totonac Indians ascend a 75-foot pole and descend on ropes spinning around the pole to the ground.
    Before leaving the area, you'll have a few minutes on your own to browse or shop in the famous "Golden Zone. " Your return drive to the pier will take you along the scenic waterfront and past the historic district of old Mazatlan.

Estuaries & Bird Watching Expedition

    This is an ideal opportunity for bird watchers and nature lovers to spend a day in absolute relaxation in the tropical setting of the Mexican Pacific Coast.
    Your tour begins after a brief transfer south of Mazatlan where a boat awaits to take you on a estuary cruise where you will experience the admire the natural beauty of the Mangroves with it's palm lined waterways in one of Mexico’s largest estuary and wetland systems. Explore the private world of the Mexican brown pelican, blue heron, sea hawk, osprey and other exotic waterfowl in this protected wildlife refuge. On arrival at a NATIVE FARM, you will disembark the boat for a snack and have the opportunity to walk amidst a variety of fruit trees grown in the area. You'll then board transportation for a ride through the coconut plantation to a secluded beach where you will have approximately 1 hour to relax in the shade, swim or take a stroll down the beach along sandy coastline. A guide will be on hand to explain Mexico's Sea Turtle Protection Project.
    Before boarding the boat for the return cruise, a Mexican style lunch will be served at a local restaurant. On the cruise back to the dock, your bilingual guide will provide you with fish to feed the birds that dare to take it right out of your hand.
    It is recommended that guests wear bathing attire under their clothing and please don't forget sunglasses, a hat, towel and sunscreen.
