Time seems to have stood still in Solin, the ancient site of Roman Salona. At the time of its greatest prosperity during the 3rd and 4th centuries, Salona had a population of approximately 40,000 inhabitants when Split did not even exist. With your guide, discover the ancient world of Salona. Archeologists have excavated remains of temples, amphitheaters, early Christian churches, burial grounds and baths.
Salona is one of the most important excavation sites from Roman times in Croatia. Afterwards, travel to the town of Trogir driving along the beautiful Riviera of the Seven Castles. Situated on a small island squeezed in between the mainland and the larger island of Ciovo, the tiny island is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Except for some green parks, stone houses, palaces, churches, monasteries, towers and old city walls, occupy the entire island.
Trogir is a living museum. Visit the main attraction in Trogir, the 13th century Cathedral of St. Lawrence, which is considered one of the finest examples of sacral architecture in Croatia. The unusual construction with three naves and three semi circular apses dominates the whole town. The main portal carved by the local artist "Radovan" in the 13th century is world famous. Afterwards, view the exteriors of the Town Loggia, Town Hall and the Cipiko Palace before reboarding your coach for the return trip to the pier.
Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 0.50 mile over uneven and cobblestone surfaces with 15 - 30 steps. Comfortable shoes, hat and sunglasses are suggested. Conservative attire (no tank tops or shorts) that covers both the shoulders and knees is suggested for this tour. Time permitting; guests will have approximately 40 minutes for shopping and browsing.

Modern day Split is the product of 17 centuries of building, renovating and remodeling so that the new of today combines in harmony with the old of yesterday. At the core of the sprawling cityscape is the palace that Emperor Diocletian built for his retirement at the turn of the 4th century. What began as an imperial residence and fortified camp is today an intriguing warren of narrow cobblestone streets, where pre-Romanesque churches live alongside Gothic Chapels, history-filled museums, art galleries and inviting restaurants.
Begin your walking discovery of the city with a visit to the cellars of the Palace. The cellars offer a good view of how life in the palace was organized. Afterwards, proceed to the Cathedral of St. Duje, named after the Patron Saint of the city and which is built on the remains of an ancient shrine.
Next, continue your walk to visit the charming Temple of Jupiter. As your walk takes you further into the old city, see the Golden and Silver Gates and Peristyle Square. At the conclusion of the walking portion of the tour, there will be some independent time to browse the colorful open market before returning to the pier.
Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 0.65 mile over even and cobblestone surfaces with 50+ steps. Low heeled, comfortable walking shoes, hat, sunglasses and comfortable, loose clothing are recommended. This tour will operate in all weather conditions so participants should take appropriate weather gear with them. Conservative attire (no tank tops or shorts) that covers both the shoulders and knees is suggested for this tour. Time permitting; guests will have approximately 40 minutes for shopping and browsing. Tour order may vary between groups but always covering the mentioned spots.

Depart by coach and leave the town of Split heading to the Karst Sibenik region to the famous Krka river waterfalls. Situated in the Krka National Park, the Krka falls has 17 natural cascades. The Krka River is a unique phenomenon due to its gypsum formations that have created the unique landscape of the falls.
This entire area has been preserved in its original form. Next, see the extraordinary Skrandinski Buk Waterfalls, the highest falls in Europe.
Above the falls is large plateau that affords spectacular views. A path wanders around the falls for those who wish to explore the falls further. Also, see the old mill that is still used for grinding.
Note: Walking at Krka National Park is at the guest's discretion during the free time and over the varying terrain, inclines and 100+ steps. Swimming is at the guests' on risk since no lifeguards are on duty. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended for the hike/walk portion of the tour. Lunch is not included in this tour; however, there is time for a snack on your own. You should have currency exchanged before leaving the ship. Due to the nature of this tour, it is not recommended for guests with walkers or wheelchairs. If guests should miss the return coach, transportation back to the vessel is their own responsibility and at their own expense. The drive between Split and Krka National Park is approximately 1.25 hours each way, dependent upon traffic conditions.
