Your sightseeing continues, passing Aloha Stadium, home of the Pro Bowl and Hula Bowl, and touring downtown Honolulu and its authentic Chinatown district. Also see such attractions as Iolani Palace (the only royal palace on American soil), Kawaiahao Church, the impressive King Kamehameha Statue, Honolulu City Hall, the Hawaii State Capitol, the Governor's Mansion and the quaint homes of the early missionaries.
At Punchbowl Crater experience the serenity of the Punchbowl National Cemetery, featuring the "Courts of the Missing, " the chapel and detailed mosaic maps of the Pacific theaters in action in World War II and Korea.
Departing Honolulu Harbor, drive along Ala Moana Boulevard en route to Waikiki, viewing two dormant volcanoes: Diamond Head and Koko Head. View Hanauma Bay, which was formed during Oahu's last eruption and has since been declared a marine preserve due to its clarity and extensive underwater life. Travel up a winding road through a series of stratified cliffs viewing some of the island's most spectacular scenery. Take in the views of Sandy Beach as you drive through Waimanalo and along the Pali Highway.
This tour includes many highlights of Oahu, including downtown Honolulu, the Pali Lookout, sugar cane and pineapple fields, North Shore surfing beaches and Waimea Bay. Visit the only point in the world where you can experience all the islands of Polynesia in one place - "The Polynesian Cultural Center. " Meet the people of Samoa, Hawaii, Marquesas, Tonga, New Zealand, Tahiti and Fiji. You'll find seven different authentic island settings with dozens of informative demonstrations. The Pageant of Long Canoes floats along the waterways of the Cultural Center, bringing the pageantry of Polynesia to you.
