For guests with late afternoon or evening flights, your time allows you the opportunity to explore the highlights of the Alaska Native Heritage Center in combination with a more leisurely tour from Seward to Anchorage. Departing from Seward, your highway coach will travel through the Kenai Mountains to Anchorage - Alaska's largest and most cosmopolitan city. Be treated to views of the Kenai Mountains and pristine lakes along the Seward Highway and travel along the Turnagain Arm and the Chugach Mountains.
Arriving in Anchorage, visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center situated in a 26-acre naturally wooded site. Spend approximately 2 hours exploring the Center, built as a place to gather, share, celebrate and perpetuate the Alaska Native tradition. The Center is a window offering a view into the rich and varied cultures of Alaska's Native people and is a unique opportunity to learn and explore the traditional ways of five distinct Native Alaskan cultures. Enter the 26,000 square-foot Welcome House that contains interpretative displays, a theater hosting daily performances of Native dance troupes, and Native artisans creating customary arts and crafts. Explore five distinct village sites nestled around a lake and learn more about the traditional customs and life styles of Alaska's Native cultures. Opportunity for lunch on your own is available at the Center. After departing the Alaskan Native Heritage Center, your driver-guide will familiarize you with downtown Anchorage before arriving at the Anchorage Airport.
For guests with late flights, why not utilize your extra time in Alaska by taking a cruise on Portage Lake? After departing Seward and traveling the scenic Seward Highway, a stop will be made to board a sightseeing vessel and cruise within three hundred yards of Portage Glacier. Whether you are seated in the enclosed lounge or out on the open deck, view the blue-white icebergs that decorate Portage Lake. Nature willing, you may even witness the "calving " of an iceberg from the face of the glacier. After your cruise, re- board the bus for the trip along Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet into Anchorage Airport, where your tour concludes.
