Spend a delightful day discovering beautiful Malta as you take a panoramic drive through the three historic cities of
Senglea, Cospicua and Vittoriosa. Rarely visited, these three locales provide an intriguing look into Malta's history.
In each you will find a slice of the island's true life, get a glimpse of its maritime fortunes and see why they can
rightly claim to be the cradle of Maltese history. In Senglea you can see the Cathedral and the beautiful monument in
the main square that commemorates the citizens of this city who lost their lives during the wars.
The drive through these cities ends at Vittoriosa where you will walk to the delightful Cafe Boccaccio, located in the
city's historic 16th Century fortress, for morning refreshments of tea or coffee and a piece of cake. After you have
enjoyed this lovely spot your tour continues to Mdina, the famed Silent City. Walk through the town's narrow streets
and admire the magnificent St. Paul's Cathedral with its stunning Baroque façade and octagonal dome.
Next drive to Valletta for a delicious lunch at the Capistrano Restaurant. Afterwards you will visit Casa Rocca Piccola,
home of the 9th Marquis and Marchioness de Piro. Privately owned and a much loved family home, this mansion provides a
unique historical look at the customs and traditions of the Maltese nobility over the last 400 years. Within its more
than 50 rooms, the majority of which are open for viewing, you can see a collection of furniture, silver and paintings
that add to the aesthetic riches of this country. A Museum of Costume has recently been added and the fascinating World
War II Air Raid Shelters ha ve provided a dramatic and exciting addition to tours of the house.
This afternoon enjoy a drive through the city as your guide points out such notable sights as the Passeig de Gracia, one
of the city's most beautiful boulevards and Casa Mila, one of the famous buildings by Antoni Gaudi. Time permitting you
will make a brief photo stop at La Sagrada Familia, the fabulous, still incomplete Gaudi church. At the end of the tour
you have the option of being dropped off in the city for shopping or returning to the ship.
After your tour your wonderful day in Malta comes to an as you enjoy a glass of Bucks Fizz in the courtyard (weather permitting) before returning to the ship.
