Da Nang, known as Tourane by the French, succeeded Hoi An as the most important port in central Vietnam during the 19th century. Today, Da Nang's distance from other power centers, its natural endowments, (the port and proximity to Laos and Thailand), and its high degree of provincial autonomy allows for considerable local initiative. Among the Da Nang area sites of interest to visitors are the Marble Mountains, China Beach, the ancient port town of Hoi An and the imperial city of Hue.

- Shore Excursion: DA NANG & MARBLE MOUNTAIN
Discover the highlights of Da Nang, a coastal town situated on the Han River with a scenic river embankment and tree-lined boulevards with sidewalk cafes and old colonial villas. The city's diverse history is reflected in its cultural attractions and remnants of colonial architecture, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries when Da Nang was occupied by the French and Spanish. After a drive through the bustling city streets, this half-day tour includes a visit to the Han Market, offering a mix of fresh foods, handicrafts and clothing.
Visit a traditional embroidery workshop, before a short drive outside the city takes you to Marble Mountain, comprised of five hills, each representing the five elements of the universe: water, wood, fire, metal and earth. A photo stop is made at the Goddess of Mercy Pagoda, located on Kim Son (Mountain of Wood), before proceeding to Non Nuoc Stone Village, a marble carving village at the base of the mountain. Built in the 18th century, Non Nuoc is the home of master stone carving artisans. Learn about the process of stone carving, and enjoy a cup of refreshing green tea in the bonsai garden, before returning to Da Nang and the ship.
