Overview
Le Jacques Cartier is one of Ponant's Explorer Series small luxury yachts in partnership with Tauck.
Dining includes an elegant panoramic main restaurant for French and international cuisine, and a casual outdoor grill. Its most unique feature is the Blue Eye Lounge, the world's first multi-sensory, underwater lounge. Other amenities include a pool with a counter-current system, a spa and fitness center, and a hydraulic platform for easy sea access and water sports. Staterooms and suites are designed by French decorators, have ocean views (most with private balconies), luxury bedding, and a minibar, with all house alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages included.

1st Tauck tour. Not impressed with the Ponant vessel - just average. Staterooms were very small and not conducive to a comfort level. Food and service mediocre. Certainly not fine dining. Choice and quality of food was second-rate. Wait staff rushed you through ordering, serving and getting you out of the dining room quickly. The excursions were well organized; the directors were friendly, helpful and interested in pleasing the people. Actually, they were very instrumental in making the voyage enjoyable and memorable. Entertainment was top-notch. Summation - I would not recommend the Ponant ship, suggest that Tauck house their guests at the Denali in Venice and not the Marriot on the island, which was very inconvenient.
