Ship cleanliness was spectacular. Service and food was over the top. Tour guides, with the exception of the Black Forest tour, were informative. Tours, with the exception of the Black florist fiasco were packed with interesting sites. At times, the walking was a bit much but for the most part the pace was reasonable. We had one of the few two room suites on the ship and it was very, very nice. The public areas on the ship were spacious and well appointed. Extended stays before and after the cruise we’re most satisfying.
Pros: Ship size, onboard service, quality and variety of the food.
Cons: Last day Black Forest included excursion was a MAJOR disappointment

Overall, this was a great cruise. I personally didn't love some of the places we went. But the Viking staff was wonderful and each day had the itineraries well organized. The food was good, and there were plenty of options.
Pros: Viking Alruna was lovely and the staff excellent
Cons: Some excursions were too short on free time

Overall we had a wonderful time on the Alruna. The ship is beautiful in an understated and elegant way. If you enjoy wine and cocktails, I highly recommend upgrading the beverage package. The upgrade gives you access to hand crafted cocktails and a more expansive wine list. We did not like the rigid dining schedule - dinner seating was 7-7:30. I also preferred to dine with just my family which was not an option in the main dining room. The menu changed daily, but had very limited options for a vegetarian. I expected the staff to be more accommodating of dietary restrictions, but found this not to be the case.

Cons: Limited options of healthy vegetarian food
