Tip: Look for local vendors selling wine or snacks along the promenade, especially during warmer months.
Hop on a short, scenic ferry ride across the Rhine to Rüdesheim am Rhein, Bingen's famous counterpart. Explore Rüdesheim's lively Drosselgasse, visit Siegfried's Mechanical Music Cabinet, or take the cable car up to the Niederwald Monument.
Tip: Many river cruise excursions will combine Bingen and Rüdesheim. If going independently, check ferry schedules, which are frequent.
Ascend to Klopp Castle (Burg Klopp), majestically situated on a hill overlooking Bingen. While primarily rebuilt in the 19th century, its origins date back to Roman times. The castle now houses the Bingen town administration, but its grounds offer lovely gardens and panoramic views of the Rhine and Nahe valleys.
Tip: The walk up is manageable and offers fantastic photo opportunities of the town and rivers.
