Overview
Cephalonia (Kefalonia) is the largest of the Ionian Islands in Greece, located in the Ionian Sea off the west coast of mainland Greece. Argostoli is a very popular and frequent cruise port of call for Eastern Mediterranean and Greek Isles itineraries. Cruise ships typically dock directly at the Port of Argostoli, which is conveniently located along the main harbor promenade, placing passengers directly in the heart of the town. For larger vessels, or when the main pier is occupied, ships may anchor in the bay and tender passengers ashore to the same central location. Consider a longer excursion to the villages of Fiscardo or Assos. Fiscardo is a fishing village famous for its Venetian architecture that survived the 1953 earthquake, while Assos is known for its atmosphere.
