Overview
Curaçao is a vibrant Dutch Caribbean island renowned for its stunning, pastel-colored colonial architecture in the capital city of Willemstad, a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. Curaçao is a very popular and frequently visited cruise port of call for itineraries exploring the Southern Caribbean, as well as Panama Canal cruises and longer repositioning voyages. Cruise ships typically dock at the Mega Pier 1 or 2 in the Otrobanda district, or sometimes at the Mathey Wharf within St. Anna Bay. Both locations offer excellent accessibility, with the Mega Piers being a short walk or shuttle ride to the famous Queen Emma Bridge and the heart of Willemstad. Walk across the iconic Queen Emma Bridge, a historic floating pontoon bridge that connects the colorful Punda and Otrobanda districts of Willemstad. Watch it swing open to allow ships into St. Anna Bay.
Tip: If the bridge is open, a free ferry is available nearby to cross the bay.
Wander through the narrow streets of Punda (known for shopping and the floating market) and Otrobanda (the "other side"). Both are part of the UNESCO World Heritage site and offer architectural beauty, shops, and cafes.
Tip: Rif Fort Village, adjacent to the Mega Pier, is a beautifully restored 19th-century fort now housing shops, restaurants.
Curaçao boasts numerous beaches with clear turquoise waters and snorkeling. Popular choices include Mambo Beach (with amenities), Playa PortoMari (known for its double reef and resident pigs) or Cas Abao Beach (white sand, clear water).

Visit the historic Landhuis Chobolobo, a 19th-century mansion that serves as the home of the famous Blue Curaçao Liqueur. Take a tour to learn about the distillation process of this iconic orange-peel liqueur.
Tip: It's a short taxi ride from the port and offers an insight into a product synonymous with the island.
For nature lovers, a visit to Shete Boka National Park on the island's rugged northern coast offers dramatic coastal scenery. Witness powerful waves crashing into "bokas" (inlets), creating natural bridges and blowholes like Boka Tabla.
Tip: This is a more adventurous excursion and requires a taxi or tour, as it's further from Willemstad.
