Overview
Spanish Town, located on the southern coast of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, offers a relaxed and scenic Caribbean experience. This small harbor town serves as the main entry point for cruise visitors and is best known for its proximity to The Baths—a world-renowned natural wonder featuring giant granite boulders, hidden sea pools, and pristine beaches. Spanish Town provides a tranquil escape where nature and island charm blend seamlessly.
The town itself is modest, with a marina, local shops, and easy access to excursions. From here, visitors can explore the island’s dramatic coastline, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, and enjoy the laid-back rhythm of Virgin Gorda life. Whether you're hiking through surreal rock formations or sipping fresh coconut water by the sea, Spanish Town offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.
Wander through massive granite boulders and sea caves at Virgin Gorda’s most iconic site. The Baths offer a unique mix of hiking, swimming, and photography in a surreal setting.
Tip: Wear water shoes and bring a waterproof bag for navigating slippery rocks and shallow pools.
Just beyond The Baths lies Devil’s Bay, a calm and scenic beach ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and soaking up the sun. It is easy to enjoy.
Tip: Arrive early to enjoy the beach before it gets busy, and pack reef-safe sunscreen at and Sunbathe at Devil’s.
Stroll through the area’s marina area, browse local boutiques. Enjoy a tropical drink or fresh seafood at waterfront restaurants.
Tip: Try local favorites like conch fritters or grilled mahi-mahi for an authentic taste of the island.
Join a guided taxi tour. Explore Virgin Gorda’s quiet villages, scenic viewpoints, and historical sites like the Copper Mine ruins.
Tip: Ask your driver to stop at elevated lookouts for panoramic photos of the coastline.
A quieter alternative to The Baths, Spring Bay offers excellent snorkeling and fewer crowds, with vibrant marine life just offshore. Enjoy it at a slow pace.
Tip: Bring your own gear or rent from vendors near the beach for a hassle-free experience.
